Social media is an umbrella term for a variety of techniques on the Internet that are focused on social interaction and where much of the content is users created. Some examples are forums, social networks, communities, wikis, blogs, etc. Two well-known sites that have made big breakthroughs in this area is Facebook and Twitter, both big social networks.

Now the social media features quickly enter the companies' own systems. It is expected that in two years there are social activity flows in half of all large companies.

This new way for your company to directly communicate with your customers has suddenly created a number of new opportunities - and dangers - to your business. Social media has great power and can influence your brand in many ways.
